Interest Rates on Mortgages and Deposit Products are Low

Interest rates on mortgage loans, other loans and deposit products are low right now and probably won’t move higher this year. 30 year mortgage rates can be found as low as 3.50%.

If you earn interest income on deposit accounts you’re out of luck. Certificate of deposit rates on CD accounts are very low. 5 year CD rates pay less than 2.00% right now, 1 year CD rates are even lower. The highest CD rates you can find on 1 year CD accounts are less than 1.00%.
